Helena Lehtinen

Helena Lehtinen should be considered one of Finland's most important jewelry artists, both for her own distinctive visual language but also as one of the leading voices that has made the Finnish art of jewelry known outside Finland's borders. We have seen Helena Lehtinen's work around Europe, in the USA and South Korea. Helena Lehtinen has with great commitment opened up the Finnish jewelry art to the world and let the same read the Finnish visual stories, both as an independent artists and in collaborations such as Hibernate.
The Finnish jewelry artists often describe their work with few words. This is despite the all but silent and still. In recent years, the Finnish jewelry art has been shown in several international contexts, for example, Helena Lehtinen was awarded the prestigious Herbert Hoffman Prize in Munich 2013.
Paying attention to the surroundings, by stand still and to pause for a while, would be the easiest way to describe Helena Lehtinen's oeuvre. To quietly observe and feel the silence but at the same time strong power that trickles out of the diligent worked objects, creates pleasure for what we see but also major understanding. Helena Lehtinen's work shines brightly and tell about what we have around with a visual reverberation leaving visible traces.
